I don't own many blouses because I don't like to iron. But, I saw this one made up on Lynn's blog:
Wonderfully Made, and I was smitten. It's nice to wear a lightweight, natural fibre, woven fabric, when the weather is hot and muggy.
This was not a difficult pattern. There was quite a bit of hand sewing though: on the insides of the collar, sleeves and front bands. I think you could just "stitch in the ditch" and avoid it all, if you really hate hand sewing. I went ahead and did the hand sewing.
My fabric is a loosely woven voile, and I was worried about the seams holding up after a few washes. I decided to use french seams everywhere except where the sleeves/yokes meet the front pieces of the blouse. Then, I followed the pattern instructions. The pattern instructions were very complete and there was even a large section about adjusting the fit. Not something that I needed on such a loose fitting blouse, but still nice to have.
Now my only problem is figuring out how to wear the blouse! I think it requires some sort of skinny pants. This is tough for me, because my thighs don't fit into skinny pants, lol! I think wide legged pants would be too much volume. In the end, I settled on
the Burda stretch pants that I made in the winter. The pattern for these pants was great, sadly the ponte I used for them wasn't. After not much wear at all, these pants have pills all over them and the roughed surface of them attracts all sorts of lint. Here are some pictures of me in the blouse.
