Five Days till Xmas and this is how Things Look at my House...

I am old enough to know better.

The in-laws are coming to stay with us.

Tomorrow is a half day at school, last one before the two week break.

Some of this last minute stuff is not really my fault.  Favours and tasks for other people are having a knock on effect.

I haven't sewn clothes for myself in months.  After Christmas it is all about ME!  Unless I sew my husband a balmacaan coat from a Japanese pattern book....

It looks like a sideboard.  Really it's a craft stash.

This should be all waxed and ready for bleached white damask tablecloths.  I might still pull it off.

Machine is running flat out.
Merry Christmas everybody!  Hope you have it under better control than I do!

  1. Well, it looks like loss-of-sleep time.

  2. I wish you success in getting it all done, or at least the stuff that's really, really important. And I wish you and all your family a very happy Christmas!

  3. My idea of 'control' is to put what stuff I can into plastic bins (the rest in a closet), buy a yard 1/2 of lovely Christmas print cotton (on sale now), shirt-tail hem the yardage, place over bins, use bins as a side/display table.

  4. Oh petoskystone's idea is brilliant! It looks like that here on a smaller scale since I have, maybe, an hour a day to devote to crafting (and the family insists on dining on the dining table, how pesky!). My solution is to set a time when I'll call it a day/night/year, clean everything up and tell myself there will be another Christmas... That said, I hope you get it all done!

  5. Hopefully your MinL is a crafter and fully understands! If all else fails I would be taking peroskystone's advice - simple, and effective.

  7. OMG, Karin! I hope you get along with your in-laws, and everybody can lend you a hand to sort everything out. I know this is no consolation to you but I admit that my house looks like it has been hit by a bomb... and I´m leaving in the morning!
    Merry Christmas!

  9. ...and me too! I'm burning the midnight oil because 2 weeks ago I thought I'd rustle up some plaid flannel shirts for the boys...yes, that's 2 plaid shirts to match. And I'm leaving on Saturday!
I wish you luck. May the sewing Gods be with you!
    And petoskystone's is brilliant!
