My root canal re-do seemed to go well. If you live in London, and need a root canal specialist, I can highly recommend Mr Bhavin Bhuva. He has a special microscope which allows him to find stuff a normal family dentist won't be able to find. It turned out, I had an extra root on the pained molar that my family dentist had missed the first time. It's now just a few hours later, and I feel well enough to share another adventure in home-produced clothing!

Sirdar Girl's Cardigan 9239, in Denim Ultra Chunky
This one was meant to be for my 8 year old daughter, but it was so small that it was a perfect fit for my 5 year old daughter! At least some-one can wear it. Though it's not the spec my 5 year old would have chosen, so she wants something in addition. Meanwhile, the oldest is still waiting for a cardigan like this one that actually fits. I was soooo much better off, when I insisted on knitting only for myself!
My attempt at the pattern. My husband thinks it looks fantastic despite the errors.

My little one in the cardigan. I am so very cautious about posting their photos online, but this picture is a little fuzzy, so probably OK then?
Sirdar's Ultra Denim Chunky knits up quickly - 10mm needles! It has a little wool and cotton in it, but it is mostly acrylic. This means I can machine wash it in a warm wash. Eminently sensible for kids clothes, but not as luscious as the luxury yarns put out by Rowan or Debbie Bliss, etc.
This was my first Sirdar pattern. It was well written with no mistakes and easy even for a beginner like myself to follow. I'd definitely try them again, especially for casual stuff.

Very sweet!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fantastic, too! Your daughter is a cutie, and I believe/hope that only sewists are interested in the family pics we post.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the season for knitting. I usually only knit with chunky yarns and the thickest needles possible. A lovely cardigan and happy daughter.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable! Both your daughter and the cardigan. The cardigan is such a great color for mixing and matching with lots of different clothes. I too had to have a root canal twice on the same tooth due to a missed accessory nerve. Ugh, one time is bad enough! Glad to hear the retreated tooth is doing well.
ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest little cardi! How adorable! I love an ivory chunky cardigan for all sorts of reasons and seasons.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet cardigan, and she looks so pleased with it! Well done! and I am so glad the root canal is in the past :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling cardigan, and your daughter is beautiful! I hear you about posting children's pics online, although I make a point of keeping them nameless except for a good cause (like Down syndrome awareness!) I've never had a root canal, although I've had a lot of oral surgery and orthodontic work, so I'm very happy to hear that your poor tooth is feeling happy again!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cute cardi! And your daughter looks very happy with it, she looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your root canal went well, they're not much fun. I had to have my 2 redone years ago too.
She adorable in her new cardigan.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Sorry to hear about the added knitting orders, though.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cardi, and she looks very happy with it, despite her request for more :-)
