You all know that I wasn't happy with the earlier bag. So with another birthday this Friday, I decided to try a different tac. I have a fancy sewing machine with an embroidery module, so why not use it? It can be difficult to find motifs that seem contemporary and not overly twee. I got this teacup design from
UrbanThreads. It cost me USD 7, which is a bargain compared to spending three days trying to appliqué something cute, but not too cute.

I made the bag out of some leftover cotton twill from a summer trouser project. It was a big scrap, but not big enough for a skirt that I could actually wear.

Now, it's on the costumes.
It's lovely! The embroidery looks fantastic, and I like the white against the khaki.
ReplyDeleteI love embroidery, although I'm sometimes guilty of kitsch there... This is not just pretty (teacups! love it!) but also a bit toned down due to the bag color. I'm sure the recipient will love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! The teacups ate just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Urban Threads, too! What a great bag! Lucky friend!
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on the week's posts - super bag but the inside is staggering. Great.
ReplyDeleteCute bag. The colour scheme is spot on!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That is SO cute! I love that embroidery, Karin!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the tea-cups, such an eye catching design. I'm sure it will be appreciated a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi Karin, I have a blog award for you, but please don't feel obliged if awards are not your thing :) I hope you have a terrific weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe teacup embroidery is so sweet- I love teacup motifs ( and so appropriately English ) . Good use of a remnant as well.
