Sewing for other People, Part 1

The first knit top pattern is cut out waiting.  The Style Arc pants pattern has arrived.  Meanwhile, I am busy making tote bags and Halloween costumes.

This is the first tote bag.  I took the motif from the Material Obsession: Contemporary Quilt Designs book.
It's the first day of October and raining, right on cue!

This was my second try at embroidering the initials.  I have to live with the skip in the W.
My crafty endeavours are hit and miss.  This one is somewhere in between for me.  In the end, I think the design and choice of colour combinations is more important that the quality of the workmanship to the look of the finished product.  I tell myself that my feeble stash is to blame.  With more colour options, I am sure I could make a masterpiece.  Luckily, I have gracious friends.

This isn't a bad one.  Analysing it, I would have made the picture smaller in relation to the bag and picked a brighter colour to frame it.  Even so, it's pretty good by my standards.

Just one more tote bag and one White Witch of Narnia Costume to go.  Then, it's back to me, me, me!

  3. Don't be too hard on yourself :-) it's a great looking tote, and I love the motif! I always find sewing for others stressful, as I try to second guess myself a lot, also others tend not to notice details that bother us.

I can not wait to see your Narnia costume!

  4. The tote looks wonderful! I have the same misgivings when sewing such things from stash - if only I had different fabrics... Fabric choices in books and magazines always look so much better.
